Hasselö - Sladö

  • Category: Boating & the archipelago
  • Section: Sights

Hasselö is a vibrant island midway between Västervik and Loftahammar. There are activities and experiences for the whole family - all year round. Hasselö has a child friendly beach and a diverse landscape with a car-free gravel road. The island is an idyllic place that can be discovered on foot, by bike or by tractor and trailer. In summer you can travel to Hasselö by boat from Loftahammar or Västervik and all year round scheduled tours depart by taxi boat.

Hasselö hostels are open all year round and offer conferences and comfortable accommodation with bright and well-furnished rooms. At the beach there is a country store with a cafe, marina and rental of bicycles and kayaks; open during the summer months. Two miles from Hasselö Sand is Restaurang Sjökanten, a lakeside restaurant which serves lunches and evening menus in a real fishing environment. A further one kilometre away is the neighbouring island and nature reserve Sladö, where you can buy fish and stroll around the open pasture land, among pollarded lime trees with a view out over the horizon. Hasselö offers package tours of various types, including day trips, kayak packages and family packages with accommodation and full board.
