Here are the questions most frequently asked at the Tourist Information Office. The list is updated continuously. The most frequently asked questions are placed at the top.
? Where does the holiday facility Lysingbadet lie?
! Lysingsbadet lies by the sea, 3 km from central Västervik. It can be easily found by following the signs from E22.
? Are there ferry connections between Västervik and Gotland? Between Västervik and the Baltic countries?
! There are no ferries between Västervik and Gotland, the ferries leave from Oskarshamn, just south of Västervik and from Nynäshamn, just north of Västervik. The connections between Västervik and Estonia as well as Latvia have closed down.
? Is there any long-time parking in Västervik?
! Yes, some at the train station and some at Stenhamra. During the winter there are also other parking places available. In addition there is Hansa Resors (Hansa travels´) parking which is enclosed and locked, in central Västervik. Not guarded. A parking fee is charged. Tel.: +46(0)490-83914. ? Which times are valid for arrival to and departure from private rooms, private cottages, as well as for the accommodation at Lysingsbadet?
! Arrival after 3 p.m. and departure by 12 noon at the latest.
? Are we required to bring our own sheets and towels when staying in private rooms, private cottages as well as to Lysingsbadet?
! Yes, all our objects are self-catering and you must bring your own. Also you must clean up before leaving. This must be done at all places with the exception of the hotel rooms at Skärgården at Lysingsbadet, where sheets, towels and cleaning are included. At Lysingsbadet there is the possibility of renting sheets and towels.
? How should payment of accommodation be made?
! Payment in advance applies for all bookings of accommodations for private rooms, private cottages as well as Lysingsbadet. When we send an invoice, the first down payment of SEK 500:- must be made within 10 days and the remainder must be paid at the latest 40 days before the agreed date of arrival.
? Do you speak English?
! Yes, we speak English fluently and are more than willing to help.
? How can we get out into the archipelago?
! There are e.g. archipelago boats which leave from Skeppsbrokajen (Skeppsbro Quay) many times per day from June 19th up until and including August 21st.
? Where can we rent a small motorboat?
! Boats can be rented at e.g. Lysingsbadet´s holiday facilities.
? Can a canoe be rented in Västervik?
! Yes, there are many canoe rentals. You can find them under canoe/kayak and "activities" on our home page.
? Are there any hiking trails in Västervik´s municipality?
! There are many marked hiking trails in the municipality, they can be found e.g. in our brochure "Vandra" (Hiking) which is available for SEK 20:- at the Tourist Office.
? Are there any biking routes in Västervik´s municipality?
! We have no marked biking routes in the municipality but there are many smaller roads which are of great natural beauty and delightful to take a ride on.
? Can I pay my invoice with a banking card?
! Yes, but we charge a fee of 5 % on the amount you pay. In order to pay by this method, please contact us first by telephone.
? Can you pay with EURO?
! It is fine to pay the invoice with EURO via a bank but we do not accept EURO over the counter at the Tourist Office. Sweden´s currency is the Swedish Krona - SEK.
? What does my cancellation insurance cover when booking accommodations?
! Cancellation insurance is valid for accidents, deaths, sicknesses or such similar and must be certified by a doctor, an insurance company or some other public authority.
